april update from joe

He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!

“You that have kept the fast, and you that have not,
rejoice today for the Table is richly laden!
Feast royally on it, the calf is a fatted one.
Let no one go away hungry. Partake, all, of the cup of faith.
Enjoy all the riches of His goodness!

Christ is Risen, and you, o death, are annihilated!
Christ is Risen, and the evil ones are cast down!
Christ is Risen, and the angels rejoice!
Christ is Risen, and life is liberated!
Christ is Risen, and the tomb is emptied of its dead;
for Christ having risen from the dead,
is become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

To Him be Glory and Power forever and ever. Amen!”
An ancient easter sermon from Chrysostom (~400 AD)

Today we celebrate hope for mankind! Today we celebrate the reason
for all the work we do in Philadelphia, new gardens, new bathrooms for
the elderly, new kid's ministries, new youth group, a new building to
worship in and do ministry in all week starting this morning, and most
importantly new lives, as people turn to the Lord Jesus, put their
hope in Him who was judged for us, and rose again to give us life, and
the hope that one day we will also rise again to see the one we served
face to face!

I am writing this update early this month to wish you all a happy
Easter and to thank all who helped deliver 75 dinners to families in
need in the community, it was an incredible blessing. Below I am
going to leave you with a few prayer requests, please take one day a
week and pour over us, that many would know for themselves how good
our Lord is.

Pray for the follow up of all the families we blessed this Easter.
There are ways we could continue to be a blessing to those we met.
(home repair, visiting, bringing food, driving to church, ect..)

Pray for me as I plan for and recruit summer interns. I am looking to
have churches in Philadelphia host summer interns who will live with
families and do service full time to build bridges for the gospel in
many different kinds of ministries. I am hoping to manage 10 interns
for June and July.

Pray for us to find provision for transportation. We are looking for
a van, or sedan, our Durango was stolen last Tuesday and it has not
yet come up, unfortunately we only had liability insurance, so are
looking for a cheap, but reliable ride.

Pray for April 10th, when our congregation will join a citywide clean
up., and pray for April 18th, when we will be
inviting every one we can to our new worship space, to come to a
series called 'Let Jesus Speak'.

Pray for our application process with African Inland Mission, we were
invited to fill out a longer application, the next step we are praying
for is to be invited for week of assessment/training.

Happy Easter again!
